DIY Sweater and Shorts : Confetti and Vogue V9008

September 23, 2020

Before I start talking about Confetti and V9008, I just wanted to have a bit of a ramble about style and sewing and shopping. If that’s of no interest, then please just scroll down to the pictures and the reviews. I won’t be offended.

Sometimes I find it really useful to park thoughts and ideas here. Mainly for me, but also because you never know who might be having the same stuff rattling around in their noggin.

My sewing is so hit and miss at the moment. The difference between the Crystal Cove and Ogden Camis in recent posts only serves to highlight that.

I’ve been pondering on this topic this week. I think there are a couple of factors at play. Grab a cuppa, I have thoughts!

Honey Bee Sweater

January 9, 2020

According to my Ravelry account this Honey Bee Sweater was finished in July last year. Yesterday was the first time that Summer has worn it. Cue eye roll! I think we’re at the tipping point of not wearing handmade for a while. Eeeep!

Yarndale 2019

December 23, 2019

It seems so very long since Yarndale 2019. To be fair it was back in September, on a lovely autumnal day. Driving to Skipton is always lovely. Whilst the parking for Yarndale is tricky (I ended up parking in town and walking up the hill to the Auction Mart), it’s worth it.

Longfellow V2.0 – review

October 3, 2019

I’ve made Longfellow before and it was a huge hit. I think I can safely say that this is the most worn knit I’ve made for Dave. So much so that a second was requested, again in navy, everything the same as before except the length.

Arne & Carlos Moon Night Socks

March 23, 2019

Hello lovelies. Thanks for your patience whilst we (and when I say ‘we’ I obviously mean ‘Dave’) transferred the hosting of this site this week.

I was listening to the Love to Sew podcast this week (I’m seriously behind so am box-setting it) with the interview of Kate from The Foldline. One of the questions was along the lines of ‘what would you do differently’ and the answer was ‘marry a developer’ (I paraphrase, of course). After this weeks shenanigans I can heartily recommend a husband with mad tech skills. Without him I’m not sure this blog would exist, and I know for sure that my other site would be dead in the water.

Christmas socks for Grandad

February 19, 2019

I had a spare half hour recently so I took the opportunity to update my Ravelry page and noticed that I’ve several knits that are unblogged at the moment.

This is mainly because I’ve not taken pictures! It’s a common theme on this blog. I really must get better at it!

One of these projects was a pair of Christmas socks for Grandad, and when I asked if I could borrow the socks for photographing, I was met with a resounding no! I think he suspects Dave will hold them hostage, never to be seen again.

So he kindly took some photos and here they are!

Christmas Yarn Gifts

January 31, 2019

I promised you a look-see at the yarn I got for Christmas, and as we’ve had a wee bit of sunshine today, I could take photos to share, so here we go.

The first of the 3 kits is the Breiwick hat by Ella Gordon from Kate Davies’ book Milarrochy Heids.

Stash stories – not stashing!

November 26, 2018

A couple of weeks ago I scored a complimentary ticket from the kindly folks at Linton Tweeds (swoon) to attend the Knitting and Stitching Show at Harrogate.  I cannot tell you how much I was looking forward to a day off of mummy duties; petting yarn and getting elbow deep in the fabrics at Linton and Rosenbergs.READ MORE

Weekend

November 14, 2018

Whilst I’ve been missing from this little corner of the blogosphere, I’ve been off doing ‘real life’ stuff.  Most of it has just been the minutiae of everyday life, coupled with a real drive to slow things down (not entirely successfully, but we’re making a start).

However, you may have seen on Insta that Dave and I managed to bunk off parenting for a couple of nights and zip up the motorway to the Southern Lake District for a bit of time just being Mr and Mrs.
