At last…my Aislinn is finished and ready to be worn. It seems to have been a very long journey since I decided to knit this cardigan.
But my timing is uncharacteristically perfect. Over the last week the weather has started to hint at Autumn and yesterday, as we headed to the park for the last time before school starts again tomorrow, it was cool enough to wear her and snatch a few photos.
I’ll admit to not liking a single one of these photos, but even so I think these photos show what a beautiful cardigan this is and, more importantly, how well it fits. You’ll find my review about the knitting/fitting process here.
The yarn is Rown Tweed and whilst it is very pretty and very soft (although it has a whisper of scratchiness that means I’ll always wear this over a sleeve), I’m slightly wishful that I’d picked a crisper yarn with better stitch definition.
Still…I’ve worn this a couple of times over the last week and each time someone has commented on how lovely it is. It’s a dream to wear…as you’d imagine from a garment that actually fits…and is perfect to throw on as a jacket replacement when playing in the park. I do love it!
I can’t wait to make my next CustomFit garment. I’m not sure what it will be…I’ve lots of knitting and sewing ideas in my head at the moment. But I’m off to Yarndale at the end of the month so you know I’ll be buying some yarn there!
In the meantime, Amy and her lovely team have very kindly offered one lucky reader the chance to give CustomFit a try for themselves. Just enter below and keep your fingers crossed!

Oh, you look beautiful! The colour of that wool is perfect for you and the sweater is an excellent fit! I hear you about wishing you’d used a yarn with a bit more definition. I’ve most definitely experienced that woe before. But, the good news is, while you’re enjoying this one, you can knit another, in another colour, with a crisper yarn – and it’ll all be good!
Dottie doodle says
Gorgeous! Love the style and colour on you. So good when all that work pays off.
Kim Hood says
Perfect timing to finish a lovely garment. I am sure you will really enjoy wearing that through the autumn (and winter!)
Michelle says
Your cardigan is beautiful. I especially love the way it looks against your patterned blouse. I bet this sweater will be a g0-to piece for fall.
Vicki Kate says
That is a beautiful cardi and I adore the colour!
Denise Layman says
I think I would do a classic V neck sweater.. something simple and everyday cozy! Though.. all the patterns are very nice!! I think the other one I would do is the Nantasket vest. I like to have a nice warm vest to keep my core cozy in the winter
Maureen says
I love love the Cushing Isle cardigan. I would love to make that sweater for myself.
Sarah says
What a lovely cardigan!
Sandy says
Wow! That’s a gorgeous cardigan! Great job! 🙂

That is lovely. I love lace panels in cardigans, and that yarn color is beautiful!
Carissa Harper says
Love your sweater and more importantly it looks great on you!
My favorite sweater from Amy’s designs is Afterlight because a clean and simple pullover is always a great closet staple and the little neck detail is awesome
Kathy says
Your sweater looks great! One of my favorite patterns is Acorn Trail.
Clara says
I’d make my own sweater if I was to make another one. My first one is still a work in progress. Yours is lovely and fits so well.
Christine says
Lovely!
I think I would design my own, but who knows.
Lindsay says
I’m knitting Aislinn right now and after I’m going to do Moscato <3
Jennifer says
I’m doing a basic CF cardigan right now. I want to do something squishy and cabley next. I have some lovely Shepard’s Wool all ready for it!
Liisa says
I loved your Aislinn and would love to knit one also. I also have faved Alight in my Ravelry account.
Michele says
Lovely sweater, great color. So many sweaters, so little time……
Shruti says
Birch Bark for sure. I have a great deep magenta pima cotton yarn that would look great!
Barbara G. says
Your sweater is beautiful and I love the color. I’m finishing Amy’s Cushman and a new pattern will be need soon.
Wendy says
Oh my! I like so many of Amy’s designs that it is hard to choose, and I seem to change my mind every time I look! I might end up taking elements from a few and “designing” my own.
Julia says
It’s just lovely and the fit means everything. I’m going to have to try one.
Kara says
Lovely! The Aislinn has been on my to do list too.
Monique says
Beautiful sweater and looks wonderful on you. I would love to knit the Seamair cardigan.

Love your sweater. I have a number of Amy’s patterns in my Ravelry queue. But haven’t decided yet which I love the most!!
Ronni says
The cardigan is lovely and looks beautiful on you! I think I would love to knit Acorn Trail.
Heather McGuire says
I have been to Amy’s class (which was AMAZING by the way) and have begun my first sweater ever. I am doing the basic V-neck pullover in a charcoal color. I love how simple her website makes it! Thanks for this opportunity and good luck in all your knitting journeys!
Jessica says
The Cardigan is just beautiful. Hmmm…if I win I may have to make Aislinn for myself.
Davina says
That fits you so well! I started a CustomFit sweater last fall, and it’s been on hold ever since because I messed up the measurements for my armscye. But I keep admiring all these beautifully fitted sweaters and am thinking this might be the push I need to give it a second try! I got a stitch dictionary last Christmas, so if I do get around to making a CF pattern, I know exactly what I’d make. I’ve got some beautiful laceweight yarn lying around and I really want to turn it into a simple striped cardigan, but I haven’t found what I’m looking for (or anything I could adapt well) in pattern searches. Thank goodness for CF, I can (eventually) make my dream sweater!
Kathy says
That is so pretty on you. And such a gorgeous color! I want to make a CustomFit Aislinn, too, in a fingering weight yarn. I have the yarn, now I just need to get going!
Rose says
I’ve been thinking about Wintery Mix and Acorn Trail. I’m obviously ready for summer to be over!
Julie says
What a BEAUTIFUL sweater. It looks GREAT on you!!!
Carol says
Your sweater looks lovely on you. I’ve made one sweater using Custom Fit and someday I will try to upload pictures. It turned out pretty well, but I can see where I’d like to adjust some of my measurements and choices. It wasn’t an issue with the program, but more how I interpreted what I thought I was looking for (newbie error.) I seriously considered the Aislinn, but I think I’m too straight up and down (not enough hip curves) to have it look the way I think it should on me. I have 4 different patterns that I’m eyeing. Acorn Trail, Cushman, Lilium, and Alight. It’ll probably come down to a choice between the last two.
Britta says
The Aislinn looks beautiful and I think you are right. It would be even better with more defined stitches.
So if I had the opportunity I’d knit an Amy design, but I did’t decide yet which of them, because there are so many awesome sweaters to do.
Joannw says
Beautiful! You look great! I am looking at Cushman!
Joanne says
Beautiful! You look great…& I prefer a great fitting sweater over a jacket. I have Cushman in my que! Thanks…
Paula says
I’d make one of her new ones on the site. They are so beautiful.
Julie says
I would knit Cushing Isle. Great job on your Aislinn!
Olive says
Your sweater looks great! I’ve been planning to knit Caulfield as a CustomFit sweater for a while. I just need to finish a few other things first, but now that fall is nearly here (the cooler temps certainly are!), it may just go up higher on my list!
Marine says
I love your cardi. Your whole outfit looks very well put together!
There are so many great designs… But I would knit either the open cardigan in worsted weight, or afterlight in a nice tonal fingering.
Annie says
Love seeing the same sweater pattern knit and styled differently. The scoop neck and vertical lines on your Aislinn are flattering. The jewel tone blue is vibrant. Several of Amy’s designs have caught my eye even though I’m a fairly new knitter. I’ll be knitting the Nantasket tank. It will be my first Amy Herzog design.
Karma says
I love the shade of blue you chose! I’ve got a hankering to knit a CF Jackaroo next in a pretty blue/purple heather.
Connie Kline says
Your sweater is lovely and I think the yarn you chose is perfect! I would probably go with the classic look of something like Sara for myself. Thanks for the chance to win!
Lana says
Your sweater is gorgeous. Love Rowan yarns.
Beth says
I adore your sweater. I am contemplating a CF mashup with a phenomenally detailed pullover called Hunger For Rampion. First I need to finish my CF Tucci.
Lisa says
It looks great and I am happy CustomFit worked well for you. Mine didn’t and I need to consult with someone as to why. It’s a fantastic concept. I’m itching to try Twinings, although I suspect the pattern design won’t work with CF. Otherwise, Holloway or Tucci are catching my current, fickle attention.
Evie says
I’m sorry your design didn’t work out. I’d drop Amy’s team an email…I’ve always found them super helpful if I’ve got a query. I had a conversation with them about buttonholes and they took quite a bit of time to ensure I knew exactly what to do.
Pam says
Your work is just lovely
Carla Lockwoood says
Really would love to do a v-neck
Carol Thurston says
I’m currently finishing a plain scoop neck pullover. My first CF to make my measurements are right before I get a more complex pattern. I’d be thrilled to win one!
Linda B says
Absolutely gorgeous colour !
This cardie really suits you, and still looks fab in Felted tweed ( one of my all time favourite yarns )
I like Aislin but Acorn trail is ticking my box right now !
Quinna says
I want to try twinings…. Although it is pretty hard to pick!
Chica Andaluza says
You look beautiful and that wool is stunning! I’m looking for a good v neck pattern so am going to check out the designs!
Heidi Partin says
Looks great. I love to blue you chose.
Emily says
Right now I am making a CustomFit crew neck pullover and I love it! I can’t wait to start my next CustomFit. I always had such a hard time with gauge and adjusting numbers, this makes it so easy!
Pat says
I am eyeing Aislinn and Cushing Isle for my next knit. I love your mod of buttons instead of the tie on the front.
