Tomorrow it will be 7 years since Pa passed and Button came into our lives.
So much has happened since then. We now have Boy too. Hubby and I have been together for 10 years and married for 5. Both Button and Boy are succeeding against all the odds. They are doing well at school and with their dancing. They are kind and joyful and healthy. We have wonderful family and friends. We have our own business. We will soon (hopefully) move to a beautiful new house. I have a degree and am retraining for a new career.
We have so very much to be grateful for and proud of.
And I know Pa would be very proud of us too.
Today I’ve bunked off all the things I should be doing to escape, quite literally, to the hills. Pa always called Lancashire ‘God’s Country’. He had a point. I need to take a breath, reflect, regroup, make lists.
Tomorrow Ma and I will have lunch and remember.
And it turns out that I was right 7 years ago. I still miss you, Pa. We all do.

Oh what a bittersweet day this is, and always will be for you. Sending get you a big hug from down south. I see you already have the glorious sunshine, but maybe your Pa had a hand in that….Who knows?!

Spring sprang today. I wore a dress. The kids thought I had a meeting or was off to church!
Thanks for the hug. It’s easier now but not a day goes by when I don’t miss him, and think of all the fun he’d have had with the kids.
Im pretty sure, though, that he’s keeping a close eye on them from wherever.

Such a shame he couldn’t have met his grandchildren – it sounds as if he would have made a brilliant granddad. Enjoy your memories.
Pendle Stitches says
Thank you. I do think he would have been fabulous, and would have had a huge amount of fun with them. It’s so sad that it was a matter of a couple of weeks and he’d have met Button.

Sending my love and thoughts to you. The sense of loss never really goes away, but holding onto the memories is so important. It’s eight years since I lost my Dad, and it never gets easier

Love and best wishes back to you too. It’s so hard, isn’t it. You think you’re fine and then, bam!, it’s all fresh. But, I suppose, it’s better that than forgetting them and all the wonderful memories.

It’s a beautiful post. I can feel all the love through your words. It’s sad death has to be part of our lives. What makes me happy is that all is good for you and your gorgeous family. A big hug!
Pendle Stitches says
Thank you for the hug and happiness. Death is such a hard thing for those left behind. We are always grateful that for Pa it was swift and he was with Ma at the very end.
Mother of Reinvention says
How hard it is to lose someone that you love. I am sure that your Pa really will be very proud of you with all the things you have accomplished and all the love, joy and grace that you bring into people’s lives. Sending you a big huge hug. Xx
