Today I have my great-nephew over for the day whilst my niece moves into her new home.
The boys are playing reasonably nicely together and Button is surplus to their requirements.
Ma is also here cutting out a toile for a top.
Which gave me an idea for an occupation for little girl hands.
An embroidery hoop.
A darning needle.
A scrap of calico.
Bright pink embroidery floss. (Of course!)
A lot of concentration.
I wasn’t allowed to help.
I’m particularly impressed with that lovely herringbone stitch!
Wouldn’t it be wonderful if she carried on in this vein?

my boys weren’t very big when they first did some sewing. I love the look of concentration on her face. Hope you have somewhere special to display her masterpiece
PendleStitches says
Absolutely…she’s having her bedroom redecorated soon and this will take pride of place!
Chica Andaluza says
Ah, sometimes it´s good ot be all girls together doing crafty things!
PendleStitches says
Definitely…it was a lovely afternoon.

I love this idea! I will have to try it with my daughter. I would love it if my little arts and crafts fiend took to sewing.
PendleStitches says
I’m so keeping my fingers crossed that she sticks with it. Fingers crossed for you too!
Calico Stretch says
What a good idea. I need to find another embroidery hoop so I have one for each girl. Now, where are those darning needles……

Ah she is so sweet….my daughter loved arts and crafts but I could not get her to love sewing 🙁
but that’s ok…..She is now 27 and i am still hopeful 😉
