Learning to sew

June 29, 2012

Today I have my great-nephew over for the day whilst my niece moves into her new home.

The boys are playing reasonably nicely together and Button is surplus to their requirements.

Ma is also here cutting out a toile for a top.

Which gave me an idea for an occupation for little girl hands.

An embroidery hoop.

A darning needle.

A scrap of calico.

Bright pink embroidery floss. (Of course!)

A lot of concentration.

I wasn’t allowed to help.

I’m particularly impressed with that lovely herringbone stitch!

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if she carried on in this vein?

my boys weren’t very big when they first did some sewing. I love the look of concentration on her face. Hope you have somewhere special to display her masterpiece

I love this idea! I will have to try it with my daughter. I would love it if my little arts and crafts fiend took to sewing.

What a good idea. I need to find another embroidery hoop so I have one for each girl. Now, where are those darning needles……
