This sweater has been knitted forever and has been languishing in a drawer waiting for colder weather…which has arrived with a vengeance in the last couple of weeks. Sunday was the first opportunity I had to get a photo of it. And they are not glamorous in any way shape or form, but at least you can see it earning it’s keep.
You’ll remember the yarn from the ill-fated Fairhope cardigan I made at the end of last year and promptly unravelled got Ma to unravel.
The pattern is Placed Cable Aran from Interweave Knits:
You don’t need to be particularly eagle eyed to notice that my version is slightly different from the original pattern.
Yep…instead of cabling both front and back to create the circular cable, I just cabled front to achieve this effect.
And whilst this isn’t the most stylish sweater in the world, nor has the yarn taken kindly to being frogged and re-knitted…this is a spectacularly comfortable and cosy sweater that is perfect for a Sunday afternoon walk around your local nature reserve.
Button wore a fabulously inappropriate outfit, having spent the previous couple of hours on a barge at a friend’s party. She just threw on her wellies and off she went!

Thank you. Our town is very run down due to the current economic downturn, but we live a mile each way from two major motorway networks which gives us great access to all the beautiful countryside that Lancashire has to offer. We’re also only about 90 minutes from the Lake District, ditto Yorkshire and Derbyshire. All wonderful areas with amazing scenery and interesting places to visit. Add to that the major cities of Manchester, Liverpool and Lancaster within an hours drive, and just over a couple of hours by train to London or Edinburgh….I really can’t complain at all.

She’s so funny. “I’m the leader” she declared as she marched off with great determination. She’s fearless. Yet does, indeed, look like a tomboyish fairytale princess.
I think this sweater is the cake of the knitting world. It’s so easy to throw on and is cosy and perfect for scrambling around with the kids. But its a little more stylish than some of the ratty fleeces we have lurking in cupboards for gardening and outdoor labour.
It’s perfect for this weather. Comfortable and warm. It’s a lovely colour too
I love the colour, and we certainly need warm stuff at the moment. I’m typing in red hand knitted socks today. And lets not get started about the wretched rain!

Oooh how kind! The co-ordination is more good luck than good judgement, but I certainly felt a little more “put together” than normal for that kind of outing, which I think is a good thing.
