I’m out!

October 24, 2013

So…a visit to the doctor on Tuesday morning decided my participation in KCW. Another course of antibiotics with a side order of steroids. Both in bigger doses than before.  Eugh! I started taking them immediately and by Tuesday afternoon was feeling even more out of sorts than before. The lovely side effects of dizziness and insomnia meant that by yesterday morning I was fit for nothing but sitting on the sofa knitting and hand sewing.

It does mean that I’ve made progress on some mitts I’m knitting as a favour for a friend:

IMG_9443_edited-1and the hexie quilt is coming along nicely, thank you very much.

But the sewing loft is closed for the time being.  I’m fine with that.

And whilst I knit and stitch and watch movies, I’m dreaming of our wedding anniversary weekend in November, because Alice-who-isn’t-a-cat and Ma and the Stitches-in-law are treating us to dinner.

But not any old dinner…nooooooooooo!  Dinner at the scene of the original crime!

I may have wept with joy when I opened the envelope.  It’s such a wonderful treat and a complete surprise.

We are very, very, VERY excited…as you can imagine. And, with a fair wind and a bucket load of drugs, I’ll be feeling fine by then.

In the meantime, I’m off to the sofa.  I have mitts to knit! But…I’l leave you with cute cats.  Just because I can.  And they’ll make you smile.  Which is a good thing, no?

Your quilt is looking beautiful. It’s inspired me to get back to making mine (my first!). Hope you’re feeling better soon x

      Thank you…on both counts.
I know hexie quilts are, on paper, a super crazy project, but I’m enjoying sewing this so very much.

    *hugs* feel better soon.
I often think we are lucky to have a hobby that can be challenging one day – or perfect for a quiet few days as we recover. Hope you are up & about again soon.

Thank you. It’s a blessing to be able to have such a diversity of projects for all eventualities. And surely the argument for having more than one thing on the go at any time 😉

Thank you…I’m hopeful that anything that makes me feel this grotty has got to be having an effect.
3 weeks and counting till Northcote! 😀

That’s entirely my plan. I got another pattern repeat on the mitts this afternoon. Bliss.

Oh, no, I’m sorry to hear you are still under the weather. However, sounds to me like you have the perfect recipe to get better. I’m not talking about meds: I’m talking about quiet stitchery (i.e. sans electrical motor) and a celebratory date with family and friends. Me thinks you’ll be better soon, and until then, I’m sending sunshine your way.

Thanks for the sunshine…that explains the lack of rain today!
Family and TLC are the best medicine.

I’m at that stage where I’m not completely right but not so ill that I’m happy to be lying around. It’s progress of sorts. 🙂

Sorry you’re unwell. But your projects look great. The knitting project is so cute. Whoa the dinner sounds fab. Looking forward to hear how it feels to be back to the crime scene;)

Thank you. I’m so thrilled about the dinner.
The mitts are (hopefully) going to be so adorable when they’re finished.

Ooof, this bug has really got you by the horns! I hope this cocktail wipes it out 🙂 If I were you I’d use it as an excuse to do as little as possible (except stitching, of course!).

That manor house is beautiful. Is that where you got married?

    • PendleStitches says

      October 24, 2013 at 3:39 pm

It has indeed…last time it was 3 months, but they didn’t throw steroids at me that time.
We were married at our church and had our reception at the manor. It is as wonderful as it looks.

Oh dear, so sorry to hear that you are poorly. Get better soon and enjoy a fabulous wedding anniversary treat. Reminds me that it was your lovely wedding photos on a blog that first got me to take a peek at your blog 🙂 xxx

Oh, it is wretched that you are still under the weather – but I’m confident (if you sit on the couch and knit as much as possible) that you will be in fit shape for that amazing dinner. It’s concerning and depressing to be sick for a long time. And so challenging with a young (extremely energetic) family. Remember those days when you could have recovered in peace??

The good thing about this is that a) it’s not pertussis, for which I’m eternally grateful after the horrible timeyou had of it, and b) my doctor is as determined as I am to shift it. I’ve had chest x-rays and they are clear…also good.
I think it’s just a shot across my bows to slow down and take a little more care. So I am!
As for peace…you can obviously hear the banshees howling in the garden from where you are!

Pooh to not feeling well but hurrah to anniversary dinners! (We’re in November too and are off to Jersey for a few days – can’t wait). I think sitting on the sofa and knitting and hand sewing should be prescribed on the NHS. Sending you healing hugs and happy thoughts 🙂

Ooooh Jersey. It’s on my list of places to visit. Pics please!
Thanks for the healing thoughts and hugs. Much appreciated.

Make sure to take it easy and don’t try to rush back into anything too quickly. Knitting and hand sewing sound about the right speed. The dinner will be lovely! I hope you feel better soon :).

I tried to do a little more yesterday and it floored me. So I’m doing as little as humanly possible and letting the meds work their magic.

Sometimes the treatment can seem as bad as the problem. I hope your little ones are being kind, and allowing you to recover gently. Knitting and non-mechanical sewing are well known for their restorative powers.
Enjoy your wedding anniversary treat – it looks wonderful!

Still…this evening I shall return to the slow needles.
