The jeans are finally finished and I love them.
They have all the attributes of RTW jeans.
A jeans button.
Rivets.
Miles of perfect topstitching.
A coin pocket.
Beautiful belt loops.
And a non-stretch waistband fitted to very stretchy denim!
Result: fabulous skinny jeans that look amazing and fit like a glove everywhere else, BUT have a waistband that won’t fit me for about another 5lbs!
Insert your own expletive here!
I did!
I’m kicking myself because this is a rookie error and I know better. I should have fitted the waistband to my waist and then sewn it to the jeans.
But I didn’t.
Because I’m an eejit.
If you do decide to make yourself some jeans (or a skirt…or some trousers…) don’t be like me…do the waistband the right way round!
But I am NOT despondent because I am back in the weight loss saddle and it won’t take too long to lose the requisite amount.
And then I’ll wear these jeans with pride.
And take photos to share.
Because I. MADE. JEANS.
And they are amazing!
Seriously impressed – they look amazing and all the details are so professional. Good luck with those 5lbs!
Thank you.
I have to admit to being a teeny tiny bit chuffed with these. And I’ll be even more so when I’ve got my lardy self into them!
I had put 12lbs back on since the wedding…I’ve shifted 7 of them so far.
I’m getting there!
They look beautiful and what’s 5 lbs ?they will fit in no time 🙂
My sentiments exactly…it’s extra incentive too!
Your jeans are absolutely amazing! I am so impressed…and inspired!
Thank you. I can’t wait to see yours! 😉
Absolutely amazing! Was it really as easy as you make it seem? I think they look great and am looking forward to seeing them on!
Thank you. It was actually a lot simpler than I’d imagined, even with the wiggly stretch denim. I just took it slowly and it worked out. I’d definitely recommend giving it a go.
Wow, you’ve done well, you’ll be able to wear them with pride in no time
From your lips to my hips! It’s heading in the right direction.
Oh wow this is brilliant, other than the damned waistband though. Thank you for the reminder too as I have a pair of waistbanded trousers in my relatively near future. The jeans look wonderfully done and I know they will fit soon.
I’m so cross with myself because I do know better. But there is no way I’m taking those belt loops and the waistband off, knowing that in only a few lbs more they’ll fit.
Thank you for the kind comment.
The photos look great, looking forward to seeing them on you!
Thank you. I’m looking forward to wearing them too.
That’s amazing! Sewing jeans is on my to-do list this summer. Your jean details are impressive and inspiring!
Thank you! I really enjoyed making them and they’re not as difficult as you think they’re going to be.
This is great Evie…even rivets! In a way it’s good the waistband doesn’t stretch out…and I am sure you will fit in them very very soon!
Thank you. A waistband that holds its shape was the plan, just not well executed! 😉 They are keeping me focused on eating healthily.
