Balmy golden autumnal days have given way to chill and rain here in Northland. Yet still I’m sewing the last dress of summer.
So many unfinished things at the moment. It feels like time is simultaneously held in abeyance and winging it’s way south for the winter.
Obviously at this time of year it becomes all about the knitting and life Chez Stitches is no exception.
These are a work of love and I’m hoping to have them finished by the weekend, when we head off on our holidays.
The decorator has arrived and the first coat of paint to seal the plaster was applied at the weekend. I really need to get my act together as I’ve got to choose and purchase coloured paint before Saturday.
And whilst I’m at it, I’d better get the flooring, as my builder (who, serendipitously, is also my cousin) is finally free to lay the floors, build a dog den under the stairs and fit the new fireplace.
The ground floor will look like home by Christmas. The socks will be done. The dress will be hemmed. And I’ll do my best to get my last fabric sale post up this week.

Isn’t everything all change at the moment. Know what you mean about time. Where does it go? I like your dress. Could you wear it with a cardi and tights to get a bit more mileage out of it? Your place looks lovely, especially your fireplace. Nice colours of paint. Xx
It feels like this autumn is all about big change. It’s all good though. The dress will absolutely by styled with a cardigan for casual suppers throughout the winter. It’s far too pretty to wait for warmer days. The house will look lovely when it’s done! Still a building site at the moment but we are getting there slowly, and there is much work to do!

It is all coming together. You know how it goes….nothing for ages, then a flurry of activity and ta dah! a room is gorgeous again. I love F&B colours, including the silly names, but shall be getting Dulux Endurance mixed in the same colour. Paint needs to be tough in this house!
Half term next week and we are off for a relaxing week in Wales. I cannot wait.

We’re getting there! The picture of the hall is very deceptive because the carpets are wrecked but don’t look it in the photo because the light is bouncing off the white walls. Once the colour is up it’ll be lovely, and I’m considering stencilling “wallpaper” too. We shall see….this is the fun bit!

There is soooooooo much work to be done, it’s going to be a while before I have to worry about it. And there’s always the sewing/knitting/quilting plans to keep me out of the pub!

I’m ‘slipper satin’ all the way in this house (plus quite a bit of ‘all white’) but I LOVE the names ‘dead salmon’, ‘mouse’s back’ and ‘elephants breath’ so I have these inside cupboards just because, hope you find a colour you like! Beth
The names that F&B use are so evocative. I love them. The problem is actually deciding which one to use! Slipper satin is a beautiful colour. And I’ve a feeling that some all white may make an appearance here!
