….I cracked on with the jeans.
Both children rarely have afternoon naps now, but with all the excitement this week in the run up to the show, they are absolutely shattered and went to bed without a murmer.
So I hot-tailed it up to the sewing loft as fast as my little legs would carry me and sewed like a woman possessed!
I now have the front pockets finished including the little coin pocket:
And I got the back pockets sewn into place too!
They just need a good press.
All the threads are securely finished off. Both front and back jeans are complete. It’s time to sew them together and finalise the fit. Then there’s only the waistband, button and buttonhole, rivets and hems and they are finished. I think I’m making good progress despite time constraints.

I think you’re making great progress too. This was a huge project to undertake and it hasn’t ended up as an UFO (unfinished object)! I am so impressed and so inspired. I am definitely making a copy of a favourite piece of clothing and figuring out the ins and out of copying it/ re-making it.
Thank you for your lovely comment. I’m actually really enjoying making them although have some trepidation about the next bit. But so far I’m heartily recommending copying a favorite garment. I’ve heard good things about the Kenneth D. King course on Craftsy which shows you how to do it without chopping up the original garment, although I haven’t looked at it. I also love The Zapp Method of Couture Sewing, which shows you how to copy garments. It also has a great fly zip method which I use every time and always get a fabulous result. Hope this helps.
Oh the wonderful sleep time. I kinda miss that, though 6 hours of school are way better :o) I too need to check out your earlier posts on this project because my fave trou are thoroughly dead but probably still copy-able.
3 months till Button is at school! 😉 I get sewing time and one on one time with The Boy, which he hasn’t had so far. And she’s beyond excited at all the things she’s going to learn and all the new friends she’s going to make. I think it’s a win all round.
