Fire up the Quattro!

February 5, 2013

GeneHunt_MG_3031-3I’ve come over all Gene Hunt today and finally fired up the Quattro*…or, in this case, the sewing machine.

shirt1Why yes…that is The Husband’s shirt that I’m working on!

I know it’s February and I haven’t completed a single thing so far this year…but at least I’ve finally, finally made a start on some sewing.

It feels good.  Despite the crappy instructions on this pattern and the fact that it’s happy for you to leave unfinished seams!  I’m now making it up as I go along and so far so good.

And tonight I’ll be ‘aving ‘oops for my tea!*

* If you haven’t watched Life on Mars, and are therefore bemused by these references, what are you doing here?  I suggest you go get a copy as quickly as you can and don’t surface again until you’ve finished!  And you need to make sure it’s the UK version…Philip Glenister is inspired as Gene Hunt. Inspired, I tell you!

Wow, I’m impressed that the project to lure you back to your machine was a *selfless* one — those are the hardest ones to get me motivated to sew! Congrats for breaking the seal. 🙂

I’m not that selfless…I’ve been promising to sew for him for years and yet this is the first project. I’m hanging my head in shame! 😉

I’m in the middle of sewing a Negroni for my Mr. Stitch. First time making a button shirt, first time matching plaids, first time with flat felled seams. I never take this much care or effort in the things I make for myself, but like you, this one was promised a looooong time ago and it’s only now that I;m getting around making it. Must have something to do with February being love month and all. Oh, and as for Life on Mars, how bad is it that I’ve never even heard of it?

I was thinking the same today…I don’t make this much effort for me! I think it’s time I did.
I highly recommend Life on Mars…if only for the Gene Hunt character. He makes me laugh. A lot!

Is it wrong to have a bit of a crush on him? 😉

Good to see you feeling better. It’s always easier once you start

Second lot of antibiotics will hopefully kill it off. My little sewing hiatus has really rekindled the urge to sew.

I need to see this series. And I have to confess I have always wanted a pair of proepr chef’s trousers in that checky material!

You do need to see this..it’s seriously fab!
And you need a floppy big white hat to go with the trousers.
