Good grief…21 days to go? How did that happen?
Fortunately, whilst there isn’t a great deal of needlework going on here, the Christmas gift list is slowly being ticked off.
Last weekend we stirred up cake and pudding.
On Wednesday I filled the house with the scent of spices as I gave the pudding its first steaming.
Yesterday we surprised the kids with a visit to see Father Christmas in the Hall at our local park.
Whilst The Boy wasn’t having any of it (except the proffered chocolate…he’s not daft), Button marched up to FC, bold as brass.
The conversation went something like this:
FC: Hello little girl. Have you been good? What would you like for Christmas?
B: A Barbie, please.
FC: (In an incredulous tone) Is that all?
B: Yes, thank you.
FC: Speechless!
Having snaffled her chocolate as well, we went off to explore the Hall, and in the kitchens found two lovely ladies set up to make pomanders from oranges and cloves.
A quick turn around a little craft fair garnered so many compliments about the little jacket that Button commented “why are all these ladies looking at my coat?”. I, on the other hand, was really rather pleased with myself.
We all had a pretty lovely day.

Oh…and she knows it, the little minx!
I love the week before Christmas when the baking starts in earnest and the house smells yummy all the time.

Oh what a little dear Button is – do you think she’ll be surprised when she receives more than the requested Barbie? About the Boy, one of my girls still won’t say boo to FC while the other is much bolder. Aren’t kidlets funny?
I started on fruit mince for pies the day before yesterday …. have to admit that a few spoonfuls ended up being scoffed on route to the fridge. Yuuuuuum.

I think she’ll be thrilled. They are so good about it all. Button wasn’t thrilled with FC last year either. That said, she’s far bolder than he is. Little minx.
I love mince pies. The friend that I visited last week sent me home with a jar of homemade mince pies. I’m very much looking forward to them! 😉

The boys loved making the pomander oranges, I used to go through lots of cloves, lol.
Button has such a clever mummy, lovely that others can appreciate the hard work

Thank you…I was running towards embarrassed with the fuss that was being made…but still thrilled.
I’d never done the pomander oranges before but they really did enjoy it…and they do smell delightful!

Ah, stir Up Sunday (or was that earlier int he yuear?) what fun! And she looks adorable…clearly very well “brung up” children 🙂
Pendle Stitches says
Stir up Sunday was the 25th November this year…you’ve been rather busy doing other things.
We do try to bring them up well…we don’t always get it right, but its a work in progress, but thank you all the same. I must admit to practically levitating with pride at her on Sunday.
